Youth incarceration

I was reading an article from the Courier Journal that said, Kentucky has the highest youth incarceration rate in the nation. Is Kentucky full of bad kids or what? However, it is really attributed to a few Kentucky judges that circumvent the system and put kids in jail for truancy, at an alarming rate. What are your thoughts on this issue? Why do we have so many kids in jail? Is there a better way to handle truancy?

I am always amazed when I talk to young people about their plan for life. They usually have some grandiose fantasy in the recesses of their subconscious. Young and old alike always want something, My daughter asked me a couple of questions years ago, and I found them to be so profound that I have used them in my journey as a mentor and motivational speaker.* If you could do any job in the world and get paid for it, what would it be? * Then I ask, *What would you do for free?
Well, what was your answer? Not as easy to answer as you would think. Most people really don't know what they want, they just want. The problem is if you don't know what it is, how do you know it's not right in front of you? As I continue the discussion with the young minds, I get so excited when I see the light come on, and they enter into the realm of possibility.
